Modern laundry sauce doesn’t cause color leaching like old laundry sauce did
…..call it something else
clothes marinade
I’m gonna be real here, separate your clothes by water temperature. Whites & super soiled clothes should be washed in hot water with a splash of bleach. Colors in warm water & colors/ darks should be washed in cold water. If you wash your colors/darks in hot water & dry on high heat you’re gonna fade & wear your clothes out so much faster. If you wash your whites with colors they will get dingy. Delicates get washed on gentle with warm or cold. Wool gets washed on whatever your gentlest cycle is, or just handwash by swishing it around in a bowl/sink/tub with a squirt of dish soap, only put wool in the dryer if it has a wool setting, otherwise line dry it. Oxyclean really does help. Soak bloodstains in cold water (bloodstains can be spot treated after the fact & still come out). Dawn gets out grease, & zote soap & a toothbrush are your friend.
Fuck all of that, wash everything in cold water on the gentle cycle and dry low heat (if at all).
Its easier on your clothes and they will last much longer. Anything moisture wicking or lycra can air dry, and keeping sweaters, wools, polyesters and blends out of the dryer will keep them from pilling and help them hold thier shape and stretch longer.
Dingy whites should be dried in the sun, works better than bleach and isnt as harsh on the fabric.
Dont bother soaking bloodstains, just use some hydrogen peroxide and let it sit for a few mins before it goes in the wash
Also, if faced with a stubborn stain dont scrub it, use the righ tool for the job, and blot with a clean cleaning rag or the opposite side of the fabric
Though diluted dawn is also great for grease and oil stains
